The Way to ParadiseINSTRUCTIONSThe purpose of the papers is to record your personal reactions to one or more of the readings. The paper should present your thoughts and any new ideas, questions and/or insights that occurred to you in the course of your reading. The assignment does not ask you to report on new information you may have learned. Your paper should not be an essay presenting the information already given in the readings or, even, new information gained from outside research. It is not a research paper, and YOU WILL LOSE UP TO 15 POINTS IF YOU HAND IN A RESEARCH PAPER that does not fulfill the assignment. The assignment is to present what you thought about the readings (or some aspect of them) and how they affected your ideas on and understanding of the topic. For example, it would not be acceptable to tell the story of one of the Sufis discussed in class and use the class discussion to offer an interpretation of the text. It would not be appropriate to write a paper describing or explaining these or other things that you have learned. The question I expect you to answer in the paper is and how does that affect your views on, or understanding of, anything? Or, and what difference does that make to you? You will need to choose a topic from the readings or other assigned material. The topic should be something that caught your attention, something that made you stop and think. For each of the three religions, you may choose a topic from any of the course readings whether we have covered it in class or not. Although it is not required, it is usually a good idea to choose from readings that we have already covered in class. The material you choose to reflect upon in your paper could be just one sentence, or it could be a central idea discussed in many places. The important thing is that it caught your attention and made y
ou stop and think. One way to approach an intellectual journal is to take note of what the readings make you think about. Does a reading make you think about a person you know, an event in your life, a topic from a different class, something you have been thinking about on your own for a long time? If so, why did it make you think about that? What thoughts did it raise for you? Did it make you consider the subject (person or event) in a different light or not? ? Obviously, the paper must include appropriate references to one or more of the assigned reading. This means there must be a works cited page (even if there is only one entry) and at least one in-text citation. The works cited page must begin on a separate (numbered) page using a hard page break. It also means you must cite the material as it appears on Blackboard. Do NOT cite the original book or website in place of the material on Blackboard. This means you cannot use an online bibliographical tool. It will not produce a correct entry for the material on Blackboard.Answer preview
.My understanding of the criteria God uses to select those who will go to paradise and those who will go to hell after death has significantly been affected by the reading. I had all along thought that observing the laws was the criteria God uses in distinguishing those who go to hell and those who will go to Paradise. I understood that keeping such laws as covering the face with a veil for women and shunning from looking at a woman who has exposed her face, for a man, was the way to Paradise. The beautiful woman who came to Hassan with her face uncovered told him but you who with such great zeal cultivate the friendship with the Highest, ought you not curb your eye, so as not to see whether my face was uncovered or not?
