The Leadership Styles of Steve Jobs and Tim CookSteve Jobs was a strong, charismatic leader who co-founded Apple and is credited with much of the success of the company. Some believe that Tim Cook, who became CEO in 2011, embraces a more collaborative leadership style. Do research to compare and contrast the leadership styles of the two CEOs. Both of them have showed that commitment and passion are vital features of leaders as they enable them to be role models to others. They have showed that leaders must lead by example to inspire their followers. Despite these similarities, the two leaders used different management models. Tim Cook’s approach emphasizes on trusting on the team members (Taylor, 2011). He uses a laid-back approach where he allows the company’s employees autonomy in the decisions they make and performing assigned duties. However, he is always aware of what employees are doing, thus ready to assist whenever needed. On the other hand, Steve Jobs preferred to be involved at the pixel level. He was known to be a micromanager, thus did not allow Apple’s workers the freedom to decide how to execute their tasks. He wanted to control everything, thus did not do much delegating.
