Christ taught that the Kingdom of God was like a sower who sowed a seed in the field and when he was asleep the enemy came and planted weeds. He elaborated the meaning of the parable by telling them that the sower was the Son of Man, fields the word, good seed the people of the kingdom, and weeds the people of the evil one. The enemy was the devil, harvest the end of age, and the harvesters were angels. The Son of Man would send the angels to remove all iniquity and throw it in the burning furnace where there would be gnashing of teeth while the righteous would shine like the sun in the kingdom of God. As the weeds are pulled up and burned in fire, so it will be at the end of the age (Matthew 13:40, New International Version)
