In what ways has Zaras model made the firm a better performer than Gap and other competitors? 2. What do you believe are the most significant long-term threats to Netflix? How is Netflix trying to address these threats? What obstacles does the firm face in dealing with these threats? 3. Spend some time online researching services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and other streaming movie sites. How do these services compare? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each of these different services? 4. Describe some of the features (i.e., functions, menu options) of the information system that you chose in week one (make sure you have an approved information system before you complete this assignment). When describing a feature, walk the user through that feature, describing the interactions the user has with the system. What data or information does the user enter into that feature? What does the information system do with that data? Does it transform it in some way? How is that data later retrieved or displayed (output)? What is that data used for? Gap was the comparison in these weeks read and I believe it was a good comparison because everyone can relate to Gap as they have seen and been in a store at least once in their life. Zaraâs business model allows the designers to be completely free in what they want to design by the regions they are in. Not one store sells the same Zara clothing so their model will say that you will never look like someone else. This helps the store get more customers as the designs are directly influenced by the taste of the region. Another great ingenuity that Zaraâs model has os the limited stock. They will never have over stock which allows for all their clothes to be sold at the marked retail price. An added benefit for the salesclerks is that ironing, pricing, and hanging is all done in the warehouse which allowed more time for the employees to focus on the customer and their needs rather than getting clothes out of the boxes and hanging or pricing them. The last two factors have allowed Zara to perform better than Gap since nearly all of Gapâs stores sell the same fashion line. Netflix has proved itself over the years to be the top-notch movie streaming service once they moved everything from DVDs to online content. Now streaming everything took a lot of background work with purchasing all the licensing and legal fees that go along with a single film. With the growth of Netflix there have been a few other companies that emerged to be the competition that Netflix must deal with. Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max, and the list continues as every year more streaming services are coming out with new products. The way Netflix stays ahead of the competition is through two different ways. The first is continuing to use the âlong tailâ method and having a mass of products for the consumer to sift through. No other competition has the volume that Netflix offers. Th
e next is that Netflix has started its own movie production. Netflix originals are only available at Netflix and some of these movies or show have A list actors that back the company. This allows Netflix to have content that no other company can have along with being able to have the face of this content a household known actor or actress. Most of the competitors have less content, different pricing that either includes adds or removes them. Amazon Prime has a some of the newer movies that Netflix will not carry for a bit of time so that is one of the positives for Amazon. Netflix differs their prices by home many systems you are going to use to steam their service. The basic package only allows for one system and then it gets higher as the price rises. The Modernized Integrated Database (MIDB) is a system that uses many different applications to sort through the data. The MIDB is used in Targeting as an intelligence source for any Target that has been developed by any source. It is maintained by the defense intelligence agency that provides general military intelligence. This database provides a baseline for the intelligence information system across the Department of Defense that all entities can access with the proper credentials. When getting a Target from the Ground Force Commander, a targeting officer or intelligence officer can resort to the MIDB to pull the Electronic Targeting Folder (ETF) on that entity. It will have all the developed information on that specific target to include pictures, maps, and information that is vital to the Targeting Officer when planning an effect on that target. You are able to download the ETF to a viewable PDF file that can be used in later briefs or meetings.Forum Post 2:One problematic aspect of Zara business model is the lack of section. Zara limits the amount of inventory it has on hand as to pressure the customer to buy the item then and there. When a customer sees a shirt they like, the customer has the opportunity to buy the shirt in that moment. Wait for it to go on sale is not an option. The store keeps a limited amount of the item. When the customer walks away they will more than likely never see the shirt again. Every Zara store carries a different style of wear. So going to another store may be pointless. In the age of Walmart, retail stores are become one stop shopping centers with a large inventory. When a customer finds a shirt that they enjoy. There is the option to wait for the item to go on sale or till funds are available. Retail stores stores such as Walmart have an advantage because they cater to the masses. Zara enjoys catering to a few. Their business model ensures no two stores are the same. Zara practices policies that ensure the customer buys their goods the moment the customer sees it. In the event the product the customer is asking for is in season and the customer needs it in another color. The store can ask the headquarters to create it in another color and sent it to the customers address. Currently Zara is holding its own in retail. It will be interesting to see how their business plan of exclusivity plays out with the presents of Walmart, Target, and Amazon. Currently the biggest threats facing Net-flicks is competition and end of net neutrality. Net-flicks has to compete in market with several other companies. There is Hulu, Crackle, and former cable network such as HBO looking to came some of the market for itself. Another issue is the end of net neutrality. Stream videos across the internet takes up more resources than downloading a site. Telecommunication companies such as Verizon use to turn a blind eye to the activities of Net-flicks. Today ISP have the power to charge extra to companies that need more bandwidth. To combat the surcharges Netflicks has created Netflicks connects. Netflick connect are locations that houses servers with movies the company feels users want to see. Instead of making a connection to the Netflick headquarters to download movies the movie comes from one of the servers centers. Reducing the amount of traffic on the internet. Netflicks is combating its competition by creating new ideas. Instead of being associated with a service box, Netflick has associated itself with being inside smart televisions and gaming consoles. Netflick is not marketing based on price or lack of ads. It is marketing on speed of and quality of videosAs for the quality of the classroom I would like to freely move around the site even if I am in content.
