..Justine Sacco is a thirty-year-old woman who is a senior director of corporate communication at IAC. She was tweeting as she made the long journey from New York to South Afr
ica to visit the family in 2003. The tweets were about the caustic little jokes about the indignities of travel. The most striking tweet which branded her a racist is her last tweet where she hoped she dont get AIDs while in Africa because she is a White (Ronson, 2015). She had few Twitter followers, so it did not surprise when no one responded. However, when she landed in Cape Town, she started receiving texts and alerts from friends and followers because her tweet was trending. However, she remained unaware of the turn of events until the time of landing, a tweet that was a joke had become a subject of entertainment and ideological crusade against how she perceived Africa.
