INTRODUCTION
Non-human primates are our closest relatives and they are often anthropomorphized in films
and exploited in various ways by our species. This discussion will highlight the positive and
negative consequences that non-human primates face in the film industry. It will also provide
information about non-human primate characteristics.
RESEARCH
1. Choose a recent or old Hollywood film that explicitly features a non-human primate.
(Documentaries are NOT good for this exercise.)
If you cannot think of an appropriate movie, a good starting point for older movies is this
website which lists hundreds of films:  londonessays.com (??????
??) , but not all of these films are suitable. You need to check that the film features a REAL,
LIVE non-human primate.
? Do NOT use films with animated primates, such as The Jungle Book or the Lion
King.
? Do NOT use films with humans acting as non-human primates or CGI primates, such
asPlanet of the Apes or King Kong.
? Do NOT use documentaries that focus on natural behavior of primates. Please select
a Hollywood film that was made for entertainment purposes.
1. Review the film and record what primates were featured and note observations on
their behavior.
1. Use your textbook and PowerPoints as resources to critically evaluate how
accurately the featured primate was portrayed. You can also use this website that
provides “Fact Sheets” on non-human
primates: londonessays.com (????????)  (Do NOT use
Wikipedia.)

well as the scientific name which includes the genus and species name (for example,
the common chimpanzee is Pan troglodytes). Use this website or other reliable

least a paragraph or two on this subject.
1. In what ways did the non-human primates exhibit ‘natural’ behavior? Write at least a
paragraph or two on this subject.
1. Should film producers be allowed to continue to use non-human primates in movies?
Why or why not? Write at least a paragraph or two on this subject. Answer Preview……………..Project X is a Hollywood film directed by Jonathan Kaplan that was first released in the year 1987. The movie is a comedy type and produced in America. Mathew Broderick is the main character of the film, and he is an airman as well as a student with the assignment of taking care of chimpanzees to be used for the Project. The film is popular since it featured real primates at a time when animation technology was not available. Use of apes in movies became a popular thing as the primates that are non-human always attract the attention of many people. However, although using primates made the film enjoyable, there was mistreatment of the Chimpanzees that caught the attention of many through exposure to harsh environments and being caged………………APA 665 words
