Education ParadigmsThis quarter, Ive been working to get us to think critically about the nature of education, partly because I think that it has such a strong influence on the ways we are creative. In this discussion, lets think deeply about what we could do differently to make an educational system that works for everyone.Consider these questions (some or all, depending on what speaks to you): Do you feel educators think enough about how they are teaching, as opposed to what they teach?
What is the cost of emphasizing conformity over creativity and individuality in education? Robinson argues that we need to not only eliminate the hierarchy of subjects, we need to eliminate the idea of subjects. Can interdisciplinary learning (as discussed in the video on the previous page) more effectively serve students interests?please write around 250 words.Answer preview
.I think educators think more about what they teach as opposed to how they teach. The teachers have a
syllabus to cover and exams they want students to pass. Their appraisal, parameter or gauge is solely dependent on the ability of students to pass the exams (Sullivan & Downey, 2015). Therefore, they aim at what they teach. They assume that the students will learn as they teach. It is an incorrect assumption because most of what the students learn before or after school they are not taught. For example, kids run how to walk, to run and to speak without being taught. They also learn how to interact with others without being taught. Most of the knowledge adults use at work or during their leisure time is learned at work or while interacting with others. Most of what teacher teach in school is forgotten or become irrelevant after school (Mazoue, 2014). If educators would think much about how they teach they would change the entire system and incorporate a learning system that would ensure students use what they learn even after school
