..I have learned important aspects about the Counter Intelligence program from the responses of other students. Their posts have enabled me to learn the objectives of the counter intelligence program, which include prot
ecting the society against organized criminal and terrorist activities. For this reason, the federal intelligence departments, such as the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) have to gather information that enables them to detect and destroy radical organization and toxic political groups, which might compromise the welfare and stability of the United States and global societies. However, the responses from my classmates on the topic enabled me to know that there are instances when the intelligence community employs unethical tactics to acquire the information they need. For instance, they might torture certain suspects to make them reveal some crucial data they believe might help them to eliminate a dangerous group or stop an imminent attack. Despite the critics of the counter intelligence program by some members of the U.S. society, some persons believe that the nation needs it to protect its citizens from the activities of dangerous groups. Therefore, the responses I have read on the discussion board have enhanced my understanding of the roles, the objectives, and the societys view of the counter intelligence program
